Water Situation in FL With the SW Florida explosive population growth, the demand in quality and quantity of potable water increased greatly. As this growth continues, it may demand the change of current water management policies and wastewater disposal practices to protect the quality of underground water supplies and the environment. In this light the development of a new water management philosophy and innovative concepts that represent departures from the conventional approach receives an invaluable importance. Having all this in mind and serving as water utilities engineering contractor for Hendry County, Southern DataStream proposes a development of a new Water Utility Master Plan for the county. SDS is involved in projects to facilitate construction of a new RO water treatment plant; construction of a major water transmission and distribution system to serve 4,000 -16,000 new homes. This internship is a unique opportunity to learn about water utility master planning, utility planning, water management and conservation and many others. List of tasks: Intern will assist in: - Providing a research on water and wastewater utility systems expansion. - Preparing a list of potential improvements for water and wastewater treatment facilities. - Providing a research on water and wastewater utility infrastructure needs. - Preparing a schematic layout of the water and wastewater utilities extension program. - Developing of conceptual hydraulic models of the potable water distribution, wastewater collection, and reclaimed water distribution systems and many others.
