Construction Design and Permitting Training for Civil and Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural, Construction Management and Environmental Science students. This project involves learning to produce CAD drawings and securing construction permits for several improvements for the Hendry County oxbow restoration projects and the LaBelle Nature Park (new environmental education center). The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers requires extensive permit applications for dredging projects and the construction of docks and platforms along Caloosahatchee River. The nature trails and terracing of land at a related support building also require special permits. The trainee will: - Assist with applying for all required federal, county and city permits to initiate the construction and observe; - Produce construction drawings based on standard designs and discussions with the land owners and project organizers. - Deliver CAD construction drawings based on standard designs and discussions with the land owners and project organizers. - Assist with development of documents accompanying the scope of work, as well as visit and draw location maps, conduct field surveys and support activities to obtain agencies permits and construction drawings. - Assist with the actual construction process; - Assist in development of new project proposals. - Study and apply AutoCAD to prepare/improve various drawings and deliver appropriate reports. - Attend external meetings with training supervisor Dr. Capece, prepare notes and reports; - Demonstrate new SOP and assess suitability of project designs and implementation.
